Clouded Ambitions Preview: Sightseeing in Seattle

It was getting late as Patricia and Chen made their way out of the mall, but Patricia had promised to find some sightseeing for Chen.

Walking to their rental car, she took out a list of sights O’Brian had given her, hoping to find somewhere worth stopping on the way back to the Pendrite.

“So, Chen, sightseeing time. What sounds like fun?”

“Really?”

“Yeah.” She compared the list with a city map on her phone. “We could check out the Space Needle. You want to go?”

“I guess.” Chen appeared less than enthusiastic.

“You choose. We’ll go wherever you want to go.”

“Really? I can choose?”

“Yeah? Anything you want to do.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. You know, I bet you can learn a lot about a person by what
sightseeing they pick.”

“OK.” Chen took out his wallet, pulled out a card with a name scribbled on the back, and handed it to her.

Patricia held it up and read: “Radio Shack?”

Fifteen minutes later the two of them stood in a Radio Shack, where Chen quickly found his way to a display on one side.

“So you’re looking for a remote control helicopter, is that it?” Patricia asked.

“It’s called a quadcopter, or drone.”

“That’s one of those with a camera on it?”

“Right,” Chen confirmed. “And there’s a model I can’t buy in Beijing. Wow, this one’s not bad.”

“So you’re into remote control helicopters?”

“Yes. These quadcopters, they fly very smooth. Also, they’re easy to control.”

Patricia was impressed. If the first sight a person picks to see while traveling in a country for the first time, if that tells you something about the person’s character, then Patricia knew she was going to like Chen Li, who had just chosen a Radio Shack.
